As a Democrat in the heavily Republican, mostly rural 10th Congressional District, U.S. Rep. Chris Carney inherently is something of a political contradiction. But he has negotiated the political geography of the district and the U.S. House with the same degree of deftness. His record from his first two years in Congress warrants his re-election.

U.S. Rep. Chris Carney, the Democrat serving the 10th Congressional District, including Bradford and Sullivan counties, has had an impressive freshman term in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Carney’s impressive two-year Congressional record includes co-sponsorship of legislation to provide educational benefits for National Guard members and Reservists, more effectively prosecute child pornographers, help senior caregivers, secure Social Security benefits and add thousands of border patrol agents. His background as a Naval Reserve officer and years of intelligence work in the Pentagon qualified Carney for his appointment to chair the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Management, Investigations and Oversight.
